Affiliate Organisations
The Mars Society UK is proud to be affiliated with the following Mars
and space advocacy organisations:
BROHP is an organisation which began with the intention of recording
the experiences of those who worked on the British rocketry programmes
of the 50s and 60s. We felt that a valuable source of primary material
was in danger of being lost with the passage of time. In 1998,we decided
to take this further by organising a conference at Charterhouse where
talks and papers on these topics could be presented.
The MarsDrive Consortium (“MDC”) is a group engaged in
bringing together like- minded individuals, groups and businesses for
the purpose of raising the large scale public support and necessary
resources for an actual human mission to Mars within the next 2 decades.
Building upon concepts and designs from the past several decades, the
Mars Homestead Project, the main project of the Mars Foundation, seeks
to develop a unified plan for building the first habitat on Mars by
exploiting local materials. The ultimate goal of the project is to build
a growing, permanent settlement beyond the Earth, thus allowing civilization
to spread beyond the limits of our small planet.
The SEC is a group of organisations with an interest in space education.
It is intended to allow its members to exchange information, coordinate
activities, and combine expertise and experience in the different sectors
of space education.
SEDS is the world's largest space enthusiast organisation for both
school and university students. Anyone who is interested can become
a member of UKSEDS, young or old, student or non-student. The organisation
was founded in the US in 1980 by students at MIT and Princeton University
and is continuing to grow, currently having more than 60 branches worldwide.
UKSEDS was formed in 1988 and is one of the fastest growing national
SEDS groups.
